Summary

Agentless VMware Backup exploits VMware vStorage APIs for Data Protection (VADP) to enable off-host backup of vSphere VMs through proxy servers. Using VADP, proxy servers dramatically reduce impact on ESX servers. The result is low impact, non-disruptive backups that can be performed frequently during the business day without affecting users. DPX uses VADP to take a native VMware snapshot of the VM. After the backup completes and a snapshot is created on backup storage, the native VM snapshot is deleted.
