Question

Should I be aware of any network configurations for DPX Agentless Backups and Recovery Operations?

Answer

When performing Agentless recovery operations, you are required to have iSCSI Initiator enabled on the ESX server hosting the restored virtual machine (VM).

The software iSCSI Initiator uses the VMkernel network, and there must be a route between the ESX host and NetApp storage system. To ensure that there is an iSCSI route between the ESX host and the NetApp interface that is scanned into the DPX Enterprise, you can use a 'vmkping’ command from the ESX host.  This will verify if there is connectivity between the two. Prior to running the ‘vmkping’ command, verify that the software iSCSI adapter is enabled on the ESX hosts.  Refer to  When is an iSCSI Initiator needed for DPX Agentless Backup? to see how to enable the iSCSI adapter.
