Symptoms
Block Backup failed with the following error:
Wed Mar 25 21:02:05 2015 SNBSVH_605E Task 3 destination volume snapshot count(251) is higher than specified threshold(250)
Wed Mar 25 21:02:05 2015 SNBSVH_605E Task 6 destination volume snapshot count(251) is higher than specified threshold(250)
Resolution
Netapp limits the amount of snapshots per volume to 255 snapshots.In order to resolve this error the following steps can be performed:
- Reduce the amount of jobs or retention time for the job in question
- Move some of the backup operations to a new Netapp destination volume
