Summary
This article will provide the best method to update any version of DPX Master Server 4.5.0 or higher to DPX 4.6.0 Follow the steps below and select your starting point based on whether your Master Server has access to the internet.
Step By Step
Please make sure that no job is active in DPX at the time of the update.
If your Master Server has access to the internet:Use Autoupdate and select Check the online services for updates and hit OK. Select only your Master Server. Due to the structure changing and depending on your current version, it may require to run Autoupdate several times until you end at version 4.6.0 - please check DPX release (Help - About) every time update has completed. This will take you from 4.5.0 to 4.5.4 to 4.6.0.
If your Master Server does not have access to the internet, follow the steps below:
- Download the appropriate patch files for your DPX version and OS and save the files to the DPX Master Server repository under D:\Program Files\DPX\updates\packages where D:\ is the drive where your DPX installation resides. On *nix operating systems, save the files to /opt/DPX/updates/packages/
- Access DPX using a web browser (“Java Web Start” launch method) by going to http://master-server-hostname:6122/dpx.jnlp (Be sure not to accidentally type https)
- Select Help>Autoupdate DPX
- Select “Check for updates using already downloaded patches”, hit OK, and wait for the queries to your nodes are finished (this may take a while, be patient).
- Select your Master Server only. Start the update. Autoupdate will update to each intermediate version until it reaches DPX 4.5.5, but this process is one step.
- After the updating the Master Server to version 4.5.5, please log in again to the DPX web console and check the version to make sure the update was successful.
- Verify your client nodes have been updated to 4.6.0.
