Summary



Expired snapshots remain on the NetApp storage system after maintenance process has run

Symptoms



Under certain circumstances these following messages may appear in the ecx logs when the maintenance job fails remove the snapshots: Resulting in orphaned snapshots.

The following are known circumstances : 
  • Snapshots are not removed from NetApp Storage server after retention time of job is reached. 
  • When a virtual machine is storage vmotioned snapshots related to this virtual machine are not automatically removed from destination storage. 

                                                                                                                                                      

Resolution



This behavior has been addressed in a new ECX release, to address this issue please update to ECX 2.9.0 build 033 or later using the Admin Console.
