Symptoms

When an RMAN recovery starts, the DPX job log displays "RJI file empty."

Resolution

There are several possible causes for this issue. Refer to the list below for each possible cause and the action required to resolve it.

  • The tape needed for the recovery is not in the tape library.

Check that the required tape is in the tape library. In the case of an ACSLS-controlled library, a procedure is available to assign and unassign tapes to the tape library using a command-line utility that is supported only under the direction of Catalogic Software Data Protection Technical Support. For instructions, contact Catalogic Software Data Protection Technical Support.

  • The tape needed for the recovery is off-site.

The tape should be on-site. Select Configure > Media, double-click on the tape, and for Offsite select No.

  • The database is restored to an alternate location.

Edit the sbt11cfg.bex file used for the restore and change the <DPX_host_name_to_restore> variable to the source server. For example, if the database was backed up from NodeA and recovered to NodeB, the sbt11cfg.bex file on NodeB should contain the entry:

    <DPX_host_name_to_restore> NodeA

  • The restore is started immediately after the completion of the backup.

Ensure that you start the restore after the completion of the DPX cataloging phase.
