An explanation of the apparent discrepancy between these two reported values: Total Data on Tape and Total Data Backed Up.
Symptoms
In the Job Monitor window, the amount of data that appears in the Total Data on Tape column is greater than the amount of data in the Total Data Backed Up column. Why are these values different?
Resolution
After writing data to tape, DPX will write any additional data about that particular tape migration to the end of a job log, which accounts for the larger data size reported in the Total Data on Tape column.
Most of this additional data references failed and retried backup tasks; data regarding a retried task could appear on tape in multiple instances. If any of these failed files or retried tasks were particularly large, a significant discrepancy could be evident.
