Resolution



  1. DPX is unable to open the tape drive for access. This may be a configuration problem, make sure that the Device ID for the tape drive is correct.
  2. This error may be the consequence of a bad batch of tapes. Try labeling a known good tape.
  3. Use the tapedump utility to test the open command when a tape is loaded in the drive.
  4. Confirm the tape write-protect switch is not engaged. This return code may be seen when restoring from a write-protected tape. Tape Verify may also fail when the tape is write-protected.
