Summary



SnapVault backup is failing with error return code 501.

Symptoms



The SnapVault handler log on DPX master server (svh*****.log) reports:

Mon Apr 11 13:46:55 2005; TGID(425AD2B2), TID(3); SNBSVH_968E Create relationship(/vol/staging/[sv]xilinxbex@92220C7F9BA811D9A689806E6F6E6963) failed with exception: <EXCEPTION CATEGORY="BEXEXCEPTION"><CODE>501</CODE></EXCEPTION>

 

The following error appears in nibbler.log on the client at or about the time of the failure:

Apr 11 13:43:48 2005:2508:ERROR:Failed reading raw disk: read_block(2097152) at disk offset[14680064] failed: Last system error:[GetLastError(23):Data error (cyclic redundancy check). ]

 



Resolution



This error message indicates a bad source disk on the client node. Check the system event viewer logs or messages log to see if a bad block or disk issue has been reported. Use disk utilities provided by the operating system to correct the issue. For example, run chkdsk or scandisk to correct errors on Windows.
