Summary

Files named 00000000.lg* increase in size and use available space on the disk drive. To resolve this issue, set a maximum size for the files.

Symptoms

Available space on the disk drive is filled by an increase in the size of the files named 00000000.lg*.

Resolution

In the BACKUP_EXPRESS_INSTALL_DIR\logs folder, the files named 00000000.lg* may increase indefinitely and fill up the drive. To resolve this, set SSLOGGER to use -Z switch (-Z 1024000), with a value in KB, to limit the file size.

For Windows:

  • Modify/create the string value in the registry with the flag as value data:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\BackupExpress\<servername>\0\SSLOGGER>

For NetWare:

  • Modify/create the following file with the flag as file contents:

SYS:\ETC\<SSLOGGER>

For UNIX:

  • Modify the startup script named <sslogger> in the BackupExpress\bin directory and append flags to the module exec statement.
