Summary
A storage system backup fails when a device server has more than one interface. To resolve this issue, enter all IP addresses for the device server interfaces into DPX.
Symptoms
The tape is mounted in the drive and hangs. The following error messages display:

Resolution
Multiple interfaces on the device server cause the tape device to hang, and therefore unable to communicate with any one interface. To resolve the tape device failure, enter all of the IP addresses for the device server interfaces into DPX.
To enter the IP addresses:
1. On the device server, create the following string value:
HKLM\Software\Syncsort\BackupExpress\<Machine Name>\0\NIB_MAXNDMPVER
2. Assign this string a value data equal to 4.
3. Create the following string value:
HKLM\Software\Syncsort\BackupExpress\<Machine Name>\0\NIB_LISTEN_IP_LIST
4. Assign this string value data: ADDR1:ADDR2:::ADDRN
ADDR is the IP address of each device server interface.
