Summary

This article documents basic questions as they relate to DPX licenses and manuals.

Resolution

Prerequisites

  1. Collect the master server, device server, client operating system, and service pack information.
  2. Collect the DPX version (SSPRODIR\.build) and the patch (SSPRODIR\updates\patches.level) level data, where SSPRODIR is the installation folder.
  3. Consult the support matrix,https://mysupport.catalogicsoftware.com/compatibility.php.
  4. Validate access to the Catalogic Software support website (MySupport), mysupport.catalogicsoftware.com/.
  5. Before running DPX commands, use the DPX command shell in Windows, ". ./bexenv" in UNIX/Linux and backupexress.sh in LinuxOES, to setup the DPX command shell.
  6. Confirm that the DPX command prompt is functional:
For Windows select Start > All Programs > DPX > DPX Command Prompt and enter DPX CMD Shell
    For Linux, enter . ./bexenv
    For Linux OES, enter backupexpressrc.sh

BEX/NSB License Service Requests

  • The production license is tied to the master server hostname.
  • A temporary key, which allows access to all features of DPX for seven days, can be obtained from the DPX support website.
  • To obtain an emergency key:
Log into the MySupport, select Tools and Utilities and search for "7 days emergency key download"
  • Do not use a carriage return or any control characters in the SSPRODIR\.ssbe_key file. Open the file using a standard text editor program. Ensure that it contains one line. If it does not, remove all control characters and restart DPX services.
  • Log into DPX and select Help > About DPX License. A list of components from the current license displays. There should not be any line items marked in red.
  • Contact your account manager to obtain provisional key for longer period of time or permanent license
  • For license-related issues, send an email to DPlicense@catalogicsoftware.com.

DPX manuals are available on the master server and on MySupport:

  • On the master server, you can find manuals in the SSPRODIR/http/manuals folder.
  • Manuals can be obtained from MySupport https://mysupport.catalogicsoftware.com.
  • Manuals can be obtained through the DPX Help menu.
