Summary

For libraries that are connected to a host operating system, you can use the DPX detect command to check the library configuration. You can obtain the mapping of the bay number to the Unique ID. However, there is no detect command for appliances. This article describes how to obtain comparable information for appliances using the Device Configuration Wizard.

Resolution

You can use the Device Configuration Wizard to collect relevant information on the configuration for an appliance-connected library, as well as a host-connected library. For modern libraries, use the Device Configuration Wizard to collect data, such as Unique ID and bay number. This information is used for tape library configuration within BEX/NSB.

To collect information on the configuration of the appliance-connected library:

  1. Select Start > Device Configuration Wizard and connect to the master server.
  2. In the list of nodes, select the appliance and then click Next. The library is scanned.
  3. Click View Log. The log has all information required to configure the BEX/NSB appliance-connected tape library.

Note: If you have a question, save the log and have it available before calling Support.
