Summary



Running an incremental NDMP backup without first establishing a base causes the NDMP backup job to fail.

Symptoms



While attempting to run an NDMP backup job of a volume from a NetApp filer, you may see the following error messages after the tape has been mounted:

Resolution



This error message displays when attempting to run an incremental backup without first running a base backup of that same volume. The message "try performing a level 0 dump" instructs you to perform a base backup of that volume.

To resolve the error, select Base Backup as the job type when running the job before running it as an incremental.
