Summary

Files with older timestamps are not picked up by TSAFS during file level backup. To resolve this issue, modify the nssstart.cfg file.

Symptoms

When you mount a Novell Storage System (NSS) volume and then use the regular cp command to copy files from a different volume, the timestamp is set to the current date. However, when you use certain copy commands, the timestamps on the files are not modified and are older than the current date.

TSAFS does not pick up those files in an incremental or differential backup per default.

Resolution

To backup files with older timestamps, modify the nssstart.cfg file as follows:

/ListXattrNWMetadata
/CtimeIsMetadataModTime

You can apply case-sensitive changes anywhere in the script. After making the modifications, recycle the NSS daemon.
