Summary

A file level backup to tape fails with the following error: Key does not exist in keyring=FDXXXXX123.

Symptoms

While performing a file level backup to tape, the tape mounts, but the job fails with the following error in the Job report:

192.x.x.x 10/23/2012 8:45:00 am SNBDBR1787E 6036: Key does not exist in keyring='FXXXXX123' for jobid='123456789'

192.x.x.x 10/23/2012 8:45:00 am SNBDBR3069E 6036: Key id does not exist in keyring

(FXXXXX123')

192.x.x.x 10/23/2012 8:45:00 am SNBEHT3069E 5044: Data Mover returned error 1400 while opening tape on device dev000

192.x.x.x 10/23/2012 8:45:00 am SNBJH_3036E *** Drive fail reported: drive dev000 on nodeXYZ-123 in job123456789 ***

This error occurs if the key (key ID) is deleted from the keyring, the key has expired, or the keyring does not exist.

Resolution

  1. Through DPX management console (GUI), navigate to Configure > Keyrings.
  2. Find the keyring reported in the job log. For example, FXXXXX123.
  3. Check to see if a key is associated with this keyring. If there is no key, the key ID is expired or does not exist.

If the key ID is expired, create a new key:

  1. Through the DPX management console (GUI), navigate to Configure > Keyrings.
  2. Right-click the keyring and select Add Key.

Note: If the key was deleted by the user, you cannot restore from this backup. See the Configuration Guide for more information.
