Summary
You attempt to run an agentless restore after an NDMP volume dump restore using an alternate location. Symptoms
You attempt to run an agentless restore after an NDMP volume dump restore using an alternate location. It fails with the following error:
Message: Failed to create FlexClone volume (temp_lun_clone_AGTL2_1396009893230), reason (Snapshot 'SSSV_XXXXX_YYY-vt.1395999470' was not found in volume 'AGTL2' (errno=13114)). Will fall back to original volume for restore.
Resolution
Prerequisites: The NetApp storage is configured with DPX and backup type is Dump:
1) Run the agentless backup job to a NetApp volume called AGTL1
2) Ensure that the DPX filer configuration is set to "DUMP"
3) Run a NDMP backup of the volume AGTL1 to tape
4) Create a Restore volume called AGTL2 with the same size as the original volume AGTL1
4.1) In case the restore is done from a SMtape backup, restrict the volume before starting the restore job and when the volume is restored go to step 5/6 then 10.
5) Run a NDMP restore job from the tapes to volume AGTL2
6) Run an agentless restore job and specify as an alternate location the filer containing the volume AGTL2. The destination pane will show the existing restore points in the catalog, but not what’s on the newly restored Alternative Secondary volume. It does not matter what the destination selection is and it can be left with the default choice of "Latest".
The original volume AGTL1 can be put offline to ensure the restore comes from the alternate location
7) Run the agentless job, it fails as indicated following:

Will fall back to original volume for restore.
8) On the NetApp storage, manually create a snapshot on the volume AGTL2 with the name found in the failed job log: SSSV_vCenter5_DAH-vt.1395999470
9) Run the agentless job again. It will pick up the newly created snapshot and create the flexclone volume as follows:

10) Wait for the job to finish and the VM is available in the VCenter.
