Summary

When using remote deployment on a Windows 8 or a Windows Server 2012 machine, the installation fails. To resolve this issue, use a third-party Patch Manager software in conjunction with the DPX Silent Install procedures.

Symptoms

A remote deployment of DPX onto a Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012 fails. The following error message displays:

#Error# The "at" command to schedule on the remote client "CLIENT NAME" failed. Please check if Schedule service is up and running with valid permission.

Resolution

The at command that the DPX remote deployment tool uses to schedule tasks is with longer available on Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. To conduct a remote deployment on a node running these operating systems a Patch Manager software is required.

These tools can be used to remotely deploy a silent installation of DPX. Review the "Silent Installation Method on Windows" topic in the DPX Reference Guide for more information on performing a silent install. Review the third party tool vendor documentation for details on software deployment.
