Summary

This article describes how after a full system restore (BMR or virtualization using agent or agentless restore), a machine may encounter a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) if all the required drivers are not present, also causing an immediate reboot. The BSOD is displayed briefly but typically not long enough to be able to take a screen capture or make a note of the error stop code.

Symptoms

When attempting to power up the machine, it will display a BSOD and continually reboot.

Resolution

To stop Windows from automatically restarting after a BSOD:

  1. Press F8 on your keyboard to open the Advanced Boot Options for your selected operating system.
  2. Select the option Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure and press enter.
