Summary

A DPX master server or client can't reach the DPX help file on the web and is not automatically routed to the local help file.

Symptoms

When attempting to access the help, the default web browser opens, but the help doesn't display.

The browser is attempting to access the URL: http://doc.catalogicsoftware.com/help/dpx/...

Resolution

DPX automatically switches to the locally installed help file when an internet connection is unavailable. However, this switch may fail if the internet is accessible but the Catalogic Software site can't be reached due to issues such as a network or firewall setting.

The switch is controlled by an environmental variable DPXHELP, which should be set to either LOCAL or WEB.

To resolve this issue, manually set DPX to use the locally installed help content using the following procedure:

  1. Close the DPX Management Console.
  2. Navigate to the "System" control panel.
  3. Click on "Advanced system settings."
  4. Click the "Advanced" tab.
  5. Click "Environment Variables"
  6. In the "System variables" section, look for the "DPXHELP" variable.
    1. If the variable is present, select it and click "Edit..."
    2. If the variable is not present, click "New..." and enter DPXHELP in the "Variable name" field.
  7. In the "Variable value" field, enter LOCAL and click OK.
  8. Reopen the DPX Management Console.
