Summary
Some tasks in Agentless Backup job use NBD instead of Advanced Transport Method.
Symptoms
Duplicate messages of the following can be seen in the *rmi* logs on the virtual proxy node:
<time stamp>SNBVTE_085D Transport mode for disk ([APP_002] IMDFHADC000002/SIMDFHADC000002.vmdk): nbd
In the VixLibJNI.log file on the same node the following error messages are appearing:
<time stamp> [05380 error 'Default'] Cannot use advanced transport modes for <virtual proxy node’s IP>:443/moref=vm-85/snapshot-37631: Cannot create directory C:\Windows\TEMP\vmware-SYSTEM\420723fe-99f2-8691-c5a7-1dbb27383e70-vm-85. <time stamp>:VixDiskLib: Advanced transport modes not available for opening moref=vm-85.
Resolution
Duplicate directories of the one mentioned in the VixLivJNI.log file error message were found in the same location. After deleting these folders, the job started using Advanced Transport Method for all of its tasks.
