Summary

It may not be possible to browse a cluster volume as a block-level restore destination.

Symptoms

When browsing a cluster volume that is owned by a node other than the node that holds the Catalogic DPX Role, the directory will not expand. Only cluster volumes that are on the same node as the Catalogic DPX Role can be expanded.

Resolution

This is a known limitation when browsing cluster volumes for restore. Solutions include:

  • Restore to a volume that is on the same node as the DPX Role
  • Createa directory on the drive where the files will be restored through a right mouse click. Then, in Windows, move the restored files to another location.
  • Use IA Map functionality to map a backup instance to a drive letter, then copy the files you need to another location.
  • Restore to an original location, then set the job options to determine what is restored to avoid existing files being overwritten.
