Symptoms
While configuring the NDMP backup, the "smtape" backup type is not available under the backup type selection drop-down box. Only "dump" is available.
Resolution
In order to fix this issue, the NDMP service must be set to be SVM scoped. Please refer to the following KB article from NetApp for more details:
