Question

What does system defined configuration option in ECX VM restore jobs mean?

Answer

In ECX 2.6 and later we added a new option called system defined IP address when selecting the IP address configuration to be restored.
This option lets the operating system of the VM restored (e.g  Windows, Linux, or AIX) determine what the IP address should be, instead of ECX determining the address.  If the source node had a DHCP address it will provide a DHCP address, but if the server is configured as static IP address it will most likely not get an IP address assigned and may revert to DHCP to receive one.
