Summary
When updating ECX, the update fails with the following error: ', mode 'rb' at (exception)>
Symptoms
Updates may fail with the following error: <open file '<fdopen>', mode 'rb' at (exception)>.
Resolution
If updating from ECX 2.6 that was previously updated from ECX 2.5, additional steps are required.
To resolve this issue do the following:
- Log into the ECX appliance with root access
- Navigate to /etc/yum.repos.d/
- Move the erlang_solutions.repo file to /tmp on the appliance before updating. Once the file has been moved, run the update procedure again.
If you are updating from ECX 2.6 (regardless of whether from a fresh install of ECX 2.6 or from an upgrade from ECX 2.5), if you do not have Internet access on the ECX appliance to apply the manual upgrade, please follow the article: Offline or manual update of ECX Procedures.
