Symptoms

A task for a Block level backup job may fail with the following error message in the job log.

text(NDMP_SVS_NOTIFY_TRANSFER_BACKUP operation failed. Error(5, NDMP_PERMISSION_ERR)

The Nibbler Log from the failing client node may have the following error message for this task:

[GetLastError(32):The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. strerror(13):Permission denied]

Resolution

This access denied error message may be caused by an Antivirus software running on the server.

To resolve, make an exclusion rule for the DPX installation directory, Program Files\DPX, within the Antivirus software.
Then restart the Catalogic DPX Advanced Protection Manager Service on the client server.

The backup job should now complete successfully against this failing task.
