Symptoms

An agentless backup defined with one or more Linux proxy nodes specified for a backup to vstor will fail with the message, "No proxy nodes available for this job'.

Resolution

Check that status of selinux by entering the command:

sestatus

You should get an output like this:

[root@cylndpxproxy01 ~]# sestatus
SELinux status:                 enabled
SELinuxfs mount:                /sys/fs/selinux
SELinux root directory:         /etc/selinux
Loaded policy name:             targeted
Current mode:                   permissive
Mode from config file:          permissive
Policy MLS status:              enabled
Policy deny_unknown status:     allowed
Max kernel policy version:      28

However, if the line 'Current mode' reads as 'enforcing', then selinux is set.  As per our documentation, it needs to be set to 'permissive'.

To do so, edit the /etc/selinux/config file:

# This file controls the state of SELinux on the system.
# SELINUX= can take one of these three values:
#     enforcing - SELinux security policy is enforced.
#     permissive - SELinux prints warnings instead of enforcing.
#     disabled - No SELinux policy is loaded.
SELINUX=enforcing
# SELINUXTYPE= can take one of three two values:
#     targeted - Targeted processes are protected,
#     minimum - Modification of targeted policy. Only selected processes are protected.
#     mls - Multi Level Security protection.
SELINUXTYPE=targeted

Change SELINUX=enforcing to 'SELINUX=permissive'

Save the file and reboot the proxy node.  You must reboot the proxy in order for the change to take effect.
