Summary
A block level backup to either OSS or NOSB can fail with the error: sssvh SNBNCJ_103E Task 6 NDMP_LOG: id(10 736), type(NDMP_LOG_ERROR), text(Backup target host failed connecting to backup source host:[]. Please check if backup source is running and configured for this backup type.)
Resolution
This error is indicating that the source host cannot be contacted for any of several reasons. Verify the following items:
- Verify that all client-side ports are listening. See Firewall Support Requirements and Implementation
- Verify there are no firewalls blocking in-going traffic to the client.
- Verify there are no routing issues as a result of multi-homing on the client; use -hn <IP> or static routes if necessary. See Troubleshooting Network and Communication Problems FAQs
- Verify any AV (Antivirus) or HIPS (Host-based Intrusion Prevention System) running on the client
