Troubleshooting Return Code 10054 (CM_ERR_ECONNRESET)

Summary

This article describes how to troubleshoot DPX error return code 10054, CM_ERR_ECONNRESET.

Symptoms

DPX is generating a return code of 10054.

Resolution

This is caused by the connection to the module being reset.

1. Frequent return code when there is shaky TCP/IP connectivity. You should check the throughput between the machines with testperf. Make sure that the machine NICs involved are forced to the appropriate speed and full duplex and not setup for autonegotiate or half duplex.
2. Enable network recovery.
3. If this is an error with data manager connectivity, this can be a memory issue. Reduce the -C 256 default setting on datmgr to a lower value (100 or so) and retry. If this is an error with sched connectivity, this can be a memory issue. Reduce the -C 256 default setting on sslogger to a lower value (100 or so) and retry.
