Summary

The DPX browser-based management console takes a long time to load. The login screen is slow to appear. After login, performance may or may not be normal.

Resolution

A slow initial load time of the management console can be related to security settings on the node on which the management console is running. To correct the problem:

  1. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, choose Internet Options.
  3. Select the Advanced tab.
  4. Scroll down to Security Settings on the Advanced panel.
  5. Remove the check mark from the Check for publisher's certificate revocation and Check for server's certificate revocation (requires restart) options.

In addition, the management console may continue to load slowly. If so, check the Internet Explorer security settings for the zone in which the management console is running. This can occur for a default installation of Windows 2003. To correct the problem:

  1. Launch the GUI and log into the Backup Express enterprise.
  2. In the bottom right corner of the Internet Explorer window, note the zone that you are in. (Typically, it will be either Local Intranet or Trusted Sites.)
  3. On the Tools menu, choose Internet Options.
  4. Select the Security tab.
  5. Select the zone in which the GUI is running.
  6. Click the Custom Level button.
  7. Using the drop-down list at the bottom of the screen, reset the security settings for the zone to Medium-low.
  8. Close all Internet Explorer windows, and restart the management console
