Summary
The following article describes retention period management for Oracle, DB2, and Sybase backups with DPX.
Symptoms
Database backups exist in the DPX Catalog despite expiring in RMAN.
Resolution
To set job retention automatically for all jobs, edit the configuration file sbt11cfg.bex, or the appropriate configuration file that is picked up by the backup.
Locate the following line in the configuration file:
BEX_RETENTION 32767
Change this value to reflect the number of days to retain the jobs.
Additionally, on the master server, add the option -p to the jhop module. This option allows the BEX_RETENTION parameter take effect.
