Summary

After a GUI update is applied, an error is generated when starting the DPX GUI.

Symptoms

When the launcher starts, an error occurs referring to permissions on the .java.policy file.

Resolution

If you create a favorites shortcut from Internet Explorer after installation, the link will generally be to the resolved file guistart.xml rather than the installed link index.htm. For example:

IE Favorites Link:

http://mynode:6122/gui/guistart.xml?SSICMAPI=-a%206123%20-lcl%20no%20-tnd&server=mynode

Desktop Installation Shortcut:

http://mynode:6122/gui/index.html?SSICMAPI=-a 6123 -lcl no -tnd&server=mynode

By default, executing the GUI from the guistart.xml link makes the incorrect assumption that you are running Sun JVM rather than Microsoft JVM. This update corrects the issue; Microsoft JVM is the default installation. You will not experience the problem if you use the desktop shortcut created during installation to index.htm.

This behavior has been addressed in a BEX Maintenance Update. The update can be automatically installed via the BEX Software Update System user interface or can be manually downloaded from the Catalogic Software Online Support site (mysupport.catalogicsoftware.com).
