Symptoms
When trying to perform an instant availability (IA) mapping after SnapVault (OSSV) backup to a server the following pop-up error message is seen:
Failed to map E: to G: on node 'SERVER21' rc=23008 Failed To Create an ISCSI Target Portal
Also, in the system event logs the following error is seen:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: iScsiPrt
Description: Initiator failed to connect to the target. Target IP address and TCP Port number are given in dump data.
Resolution
Verify if iSCSI is enabled on the storage system. To do this use the storage system console to run the command:
options iscsi
If the output for iscsi.enable is off then you can enable it:
options iscsi.enable on
Once the iSCSI is enabled the mapping will succeed.
