Symptoms

A Block Level backup job fails and displays the following error messages in the DPX Job Report:

Description:

Volume Shadow Copy Service warning: GetVolumeInformationW(\\?\Volume{363949de-62ed-480a-8e93-36485d0911a9}\,NULL,0,NULL,NULL,[0x00000000], , 260) == 0x00000005. hr = 0x00000000.

 

Resolution

The system code 0x00000005 indicates a permissions issue.

A possible cause for this error is that the DPX user account running the cmagent service is not included with the security settings for the volume. For example, if the cmagent service runs as the Local System account (which is the default in most environments), then the security properties of the volume should include the SYSTEM account, as shown in the below screenshot.

This security setting should be applied to each volume showing this error.
