Symptoms

The job log for a DiskDirectory job displays:

OPERATOR AT NODE (nodename) PLEASE MOUNT TAPE (volsername) AT DRIVE drivename (devicepath)

Resolution

To resolve this issue, review the possible causes for the message and take appropriate action.

Some causes for failure to mount a DiskDirectory volser include:

  • Not enough defined volsers in the media pool.
  • Not enough available disk space on target volume for the DiskDirectory device.
  • The Reject Unlabeled Tapes option is set under Unlabeled Tape Usage in the Job Destination Options panel and all volser definitions in the DiskDirectory media pool are set to New.
  • The device name is incorrectly specified in the device definition. For example, for a Windows-based device server, do not include a trailing backslash in the name.
  • For a Restore, confirm the .ctl file corresponding to the DiskDirectory volser is present in the same directory.
