Summary

Installation of DPX on a Windows machine fails because the setup.exe was not run as an administrator or an account named Administrator" is not present."

Symptoms

The following error displays:

Error 1722: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action AssignServiceLogonRight, location: :\Administrator

Resolution

On Win2k8, this error can occur if you did not right-click on "Setup.exe" and select "Run As Administrator" prior to launching the installer.

If error 1722 is encountered despite having selected "Run as Administrator", then error 1722 can occur when there is no Administrator account actually named "Administrator" on the target node.

For example, the failure occurs if the operating system Administrator account is named "admin" or if, on a non-English Windows install, a non-English spelling is used in the Administrator account name (for example, "administrateur" in a French install).

To correct this issue, verify that the installer was Run as Administrator. If the error persists, then verify that an "Administrator" account exists. If it does not exist, create an account with full privileges named "Administrator" and run the installer again.
