Summary



A Microsoft Exchange database restore job fails because the Overwrite Database check box in Exchange is not selected. To resolve this issue, refer to the Microsoft article below for instructions on selecting Overwrite Database.

Symptoms



The restore job log displays errors similar to the following:

71.100.170.66 sssnap Wed May 12 14:27:00 2010 SNBSNP6282E 13660: Exchange Database Property (OverWrite Database) is not set for (SADatabase1)

71.100.170.66 sssnap Wed May 12 14:27:00 2010 SNBSNP3069E 13660: MsWriter::process_comp_for_restore:update_target_comp_info rc(23095)
71.100.170.66 sssnap Wed May 12 14:27:00 2010 SNBSNP3069E 13660: MsSnapShot::process_comp_for_restore::process_comp_for_restore failed rc(-10)
71.100.170.66 sssnap Wed May 12 14:27:00 2010 SNBSNP3069E 13660: MsSnapShot::restore_start:process_comp_for_restore rc(-1)
71.100.170.66 sssnap Wed May 12 14:27:00 2010 SNBSNP3069E 13660: Failed to complete the Restore Preparation rc(-6)



Resolution



Before you run the restore job, in Microsoft Exchange, select the Overwrite Database check box for the database to restore.
