Summary

All job names and disk information related to SnapVault relationships is case sensitive. Successful seeding of data to a Network Appliance filer requires that the job names, node names and volume serial numbers listed in the relationship and qtree information match the case used in the DPX job definition.

Symptoms

If the job information does not exactly match the relationship information on the filer volume, the SnapVault incremental backup will fail with the following error:

"Task n cannot use INCR source snapshot to create Snapvault relationship".

Resolution

Recreate the DPX Advanced Recovery SnapVault job definition, paying close attention to the case of the node, job name, volume serial number and qtree information. It may be helpful to cut-and-paste the text to ensure that case is correctly preserved.

For example, the following qtree paths are considered different due to case sensitivity:

/vol/vol1/[S2341E7SDB]W-EXC2007@{34DCEC62}

/vol/vol1/[S2341E7SDB]W-EXC2007@{34dcec62}
