Summary
While attempting to install the DPX client, the following error is seen: Cannot stop Backup Express Autoupdate Service. Please manually shutdown all Backup Express Autoupdate Service and retry."
Symptoms
- An error message appears
- The dpxISinstall.log file is not created on the root of the system drive.
- The user is logged in as the domain administrator.
Resolution
The user that is logged into the server does not have sufficient privileges to examine running services, or to start or stop services, which is causing problems with the install process.
To resolve this issue:
- Assign sufficient privileges for the Domain Administrator account so that it can examine, stop, and start any services.
- Run the DPX installer as an Administrator by right-clicking the executable, then selecting the Run as Administrator option
