Summary

This issue addresses the inconsistent handling of source-side selections in the file backup window. This behavior might mislead the user to mistakenly conclude that there are no selections made under a certain container.

Symptoms

To recreate these conditions:

  1. Open the management console, click the Backup tab, click the File sub-tab, and then expand any node in the Enterprise.
  2. Select a single volume at the top level, then expand the selected volume by holding down the CTRL key.
  3. Clear one of the directory selections under the volume.
  4. Save the job, and then reopen the job.
  5. Expand the volume selection in the source panel and observe that an empty box appears next to the unselected directory, and a grey box appears next to all of the selected directories:

  6. Expand the unselected directory and observe that now one or more selected subdirectories appear, as indicated by a red box, and that the now-expanded directory appears with a red partial selection indicator:

At any time, if an unselected directory contains one or more subdirectory selections, that directory should not appear next to an empty selection box in the management console. In that state, the directory should always appear next to a red partial selection indicator.

Resolution

This issue is cosmetic and does not affect the running of backup or restore jobs. This issue may be addressed in a future release of DPX.
