Summary
When performing a write label operation on existing or new tapes, it fails with the following error: specified record already exists To resolve this issue, ensure the media is in the Empty state and delete if from the media pool.
Symptoms
This occurrs when you try to write the label using the barcode (left 6 digits). However, for some reason the same volser already exists in the Enterprise; it is a duplicate entry. When performing a write label operation on existing or new tapes, it fails with the following error:
Device Operations Monitor:
Fail to reserve media for device control in DMM (device path: Drive0_000)
Could not create the media since the specified record already exists.
No more media in slot is left for the jukebox operation in IOM (device path: Drive0_000)
Resolution
To resolve this issue:
- Ensure the media is in Empty state and delete if from the media pool.
- Update inventory and perform write label operation.
