Summary

Default Autoupdate port numbers can be manually changed to avoid conflict with other ports.

Symptoms

If there is a conflicting third party application using the same set of ports as Autoupdate, follow steps below to manually change the default Auto-Update ports.

Resolution

The following port numbers are used in DPX as Auto-Update ports:

  • 9101 (used on the master server for the Autoupdate interface)
  • 9202 (master server to client)
  • 9104 (master server to client)
  • 8201 (for future use)
  • 8202 (for future use)

It is strongly recommended to use the default port numbers and change the port numbers used by the conflicting application.

However, if you must change the Autoupdate ports, you must change them on the master server and all clients in the Enterprise.

The following directions are generic for master server and clients. For details, see "Additional Information, below."

  1. Shut down the Autoupdate service.
  2. Open the config.txt file in an editor. Note that the config.txt file is found in the updates subdirectory of the product directory.
  3. Look for the lines that start with:
    master|rme|serviceport|9101
    client|rme|serviceport|9202
    client|agent|transferport|9104
  4. Change the ports 9101, 9202, and 9104 to the port numbers you require.
  5. Save the file.
  6. Restart the Autoupdate server
