Symptoms
Agentless backup fails with error:
X.X.X sssvh Wed Dec 23 11:39:07 2015 SNBSVH_658E Task 2 encountered error. Error message There has been some problem while running this task, reason (java.text.ParseException: MessageFormat parse error!)
vCenter is running non-English locale (for example, German or French).
Resolution
Follow VMware Knowledge Base Article cited below to change the locale on the vCenter server to “en_US”. The agentless backups then run successfully.
