Summary

Agentless backup instance fails to run due to error : Write error occurred - error: HARDWARE ERROR error , due to low space conditions on the target volume or agrregate

 

 

Symptoms

 

 

An agentless backup fails with one of the following errors:

 

 

  • Error message There has been some problem while running this task, reason (java.lang.Exception: All the disks have encountered errors)
  • X.X.X.X  2/15/2016 4:27:13 pm SNBSVH_826E ............Extended error: Data transfer for disk ([Netapp-vol] <vmname>/<diskname>.vmdk) failed, rc (-1), reason (Write error occurred - error: HARDWARE ERROR error qualifier WRITE ERROR - AUTO REALLOCATION FAILED
  • X.X.X.X Tue Mar 14 02:26:18 2017 SNBSVH_826E ............Extended error: Data transfer for disk ([Netapp-vol] <vmname>/<diskname>.vmdk) failed, rc (-1), reason (Write error occurred - error: HARDWARE ERROR error qualifier NO ADDITIONAL SENSE INFORMATION)

 

Resolution

 

 

This error occurs due to the the destination volume being full. Free up space by expiring backup instances that are being written to on this volume and/or increase the volume size.
