Summary
Block Level Instant/Full Virtualization job may fail with java.net.Socket Exception if there is a DPX version mismatch between the Proxy Server node and the Windows Virtualization ISO image that is used.
Symptoms
This Instant/Full Virtualization failure is observed when a DPX 4.4.3 Proxy Server and virt-440-win.iso are used while defining the job.
To replicate:
- Use a DPX 4.4.3 Proxy Server node and use the virt-440-win.iso virtualization ISO.
- Define a Block Level Instant/Full Virtualization job.
- The job fails with the exception shown below:
Task 1 encountered error. Error message There has been some problem while running this task, reason (java.net.SocketException: Connection reset by peer: socket write error)
Resolution
The problem occurs due to the conflict in the jar signing certificate used with DPX 4.4.3 and older DPX versions.
To resolve the issue, when defining a Block Level Instant/Full Virtualization job, ensure the Proxy Server node and virt-44x-win.iso virtualization ISO are of the same DPX version.
Customers can use DPX 4.4.3 Proxy Server node with the corresponding virt-443-win.iso available on the MySupport website.
